Abstract
Futato summarizes the previous archaeological research on the Paleoindian and Early Archaic periods in Alabama. Until 1953 archaeologists had thought that Alabama prehistory started with the Archaic. Futato discusses what projectile points have been found and where they have been found. He also summarizes what, where, when, and how the research has been conducted. Several important sites are discussed in more detail.
