Bioarchaeology of the Sloan site

Abstract
The excavations at the Sloan site found 211 small bone fragments from 141 locations. The artifact pattern indicated the site was a cemetery but before it can be designated a cemetery the authors had to confirm human remains were among the bone found. As the fragments were small this was difficult and involved comparing the histological bone structure of the Sloan fragments with known specimens in addition to the usual comparative collections.
