The Eastern Arctic Small Tool tradition peoples were Arctic foragers subsisting on wild game. They probably lived in small, flexible, egalitarian bands, moving seasonally to the interior during the summer and autumn and near the coast and probably out on sea ice during the rest of the year. The Eastern Arctic Small Tool tradition represents the earliest human occupation of the eastern arctic regions of North America and Greenland. The tradition spans the time period of 4000 to 2700 BP (2000 BC - 700 BC).
