expand_more Description

The Eastern Early Archaic tradition extends from 10,000 to 8000 BP in the eastern woodlands of the United States and Canada, overlapping with the Late Paleoindian tradition in many areas. The people were hunter-gatherers living in bands. In tundra environments they were specialized hunters, while in forest environments they practiced a more generalized economy that diversified overtime. In some areas, settlement mobility was wide ranging and centered on stone outcrops. They used woodworking tools and ground stone tools, and made some use of riverine resources.
