Abstract
Watts et al. used pollen-analytical studies of pond and lake sediments to give us a broad regional picture of forest plant species throughout the Holocene. Two of the problems with these kind of studies is they don't yield specific data about archaeological sites, unless the site is nearby, nor do they provide data on more than a few tree species. However, they present gollen diagrams for six different sites and also briefly discuss the climate. Because the data is from pollen cores, the time period covers more than the Late Archaic.
