Abstract
Brown also writes an introduction to eHRAF documents nos. 14-18, and 23. Since the 1964 discovery of buried (under sterile strata) archaic deposits at Rodgers Shelter, archaeologists in the midwest look for subsurface occupations. Geological investigations have helped find buried archaeological sites. The investigations of archaic sites have brought to light how similar their technologies and economies are throughout the midwest and 'most investigators have identified a multiseasonal, long-term occupation with the mahor encampment in a seasonal round.' (page 8). Archaic investigations have also found that low burial mounds were being constructed by 5000 B.P.
