The Dune Field sites

Prehistoric hunter-gatherers of south central Arizona: the Picacho Reservoir Archaic Project, by Frank E. Bayham, Donald H. Morris, M. Steven Shackley (13) • Published In 1986 • Pages: 37-65

By: Bayham, Frank E., Morris, Donald H., Shackley, M. Steven.

Abstract
Bayham describes the fieldwork and the sites found in the dune fields, most of which are Archaic or Middle Archaic with a few occupied also during the Hohokam period. Data attributed to the Hohokam time period were not marked for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes. The sites were probably used when the area was slightly more mesic and water was available in the arroyos. The sites contained lithic materials from tool making, ground stone for plant processing, and hearths.
