By: Fish, Suzanne K., Fish, Paul R., Madsen, John H. (John Henry).

Abstract
Fish et al. describe how the Marana community evolved during the Preclassic and through the Classic periods. They compare the area of the settlements of the two periods as a way to estimate relative population for the two periods. The Marana platform mound is described. Land use during the Classic period is discussed. They break up settlement into six sone based on environment, habitation, and economic activities, such as type of agriculture. Site hierarchy is explored.
