Abstract
Village segments in Hohokam villages consist of circular arrays of clustered residential and refuse disposal areas with cemeteries situated around large open areas such as plazas. The application of rigorous quantitative techinques is present here to test the model of Hohokam village organization, originally developed through visual pattern inspection. Quantitative methods provide more precisely defined and detailed sets of land-use units as well as methods for replication of results. The applicability of these quantitative tedhniques to the definition of feature patterning and land-use zones is assessed, and both the positive aspects and notes of caution are discussed (p.167).
