Abstract
Waters writes about the 'geomorphic interpretation of the distribution of prehistoric Hohokam (ca. AD 900-1300) agricultural settlements on allivial fans situated on the western piedmont of the Tortolita Mountains in southern Arizona.' (page 31). He describes the geological and soil conditions of the various alluvial fans in the Marana community. Hohkam settlements were situated on small alluvial fans as they provide better ak chin farming potential.
