Abstract
This monograph, in Spanish, is an archaeological study of the ceremonial center of Huandacareo, located in the municipality of Huandacareo, in the State of Michoacan, Mexico. This site is situated on the periphery of the Tarascan expansion area which flourished during the Late Postclassic period. In the compilation of this work the author uses a combination of historical documents and archaeological data from the site itself to suggest that the local culture at Huandacareo was originally related to that of the central Mexican plateau before coming under Tarascan domain during the Late Postclassic period. Although stratification was minimal, the archaeological data indicate strong influences of the Tarascans as evidenced in temple architecture, grave goods of high status individuals (e.g., pottery and metal objects), and in the pattern of human sacrifices associated with temple structures.
