Abstract
This document describes the excavation of one apartment compound, Tllajinga 33, in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, that the author believes could yield groundbreaking information on the demographic features, health, and general quality of life in a New World preindustrial city (p. 24). The large skeletal sample taken from this site was used as the basis for a paleodemographic analysis that provided the first opportunity to characterize this important urban center demographically. The breakdown of the data from this analysis provides much information on the general characteristics of the Tlajinga 33 population, especially in regard to pathology, health, and mortality.
