Abstract
This document is a detailed archaeological reconnaissance of settlement pattern types in the Tehuacan Valley of Mexico from the Ajuereado period (ca. 10,000 BC) to the Late Venta Salada period around 1521 AD. These settlement pattern types are discussed in terms of their ecological and geographical locations, permanency of occupation, kinds of structures or lack thereof occurring at each site, the arrangement and relationships of the structures to each other, and the type and size of the settlements. Only data relevant to the Highland Mesoamerican Archaic period, the Abejas and Coxcatlan phases, have been indexed with OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes.
