Early Maya development at Tikal, Guatemala
origins of maya civilization • Albuquerque • Published In 1977 • Pages: 27-43
By: Culbert, T. Patrick.
Abstract
Culbert focuses on the scant Preclassic data for Tikal due to the massive Classic remains that lie above them. There are five Preclassic ceramic complexes at Tikal: Eb, Tzec, Chuen, Cauac, and Cimi. Culbert infers from the data population growth, cultural influences, and evidence of ceremonial structures, trade, and status differentiation.
