expand_more Description

The Early Nomad or Karasuk tradition is found on the steppes and grasslands of Central and Eastern Asia in the period 3000 to 2300 BP. The tradition constituted a "social field" to use Alexander Lesser's word of independent interacting groups which shared some cultural components, but were not politically integrated. The archaeological record is scant except for burials which include bronze weapons, tools and ornaments. Some elaborate burials suggest the presence of elite.
