Abstract
Dikov writes about his fieldwork in Chukotka, Kamchatka and the Kolyma territory. He excavated and recorded sites that extend from the Paleolithic period up through the Itel'men period when Russian explorers reached northeastern Siberia in the seventeenth century. Also briefly mentioned are some of the other sites found by other researchers in the same area. Only the sites and information that pertain to the Tarya Neolithic (or Tar'in) were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. These sites were found in the Kamchatka river valley and Avacha Bay, Kamchatka; Russia. In the Kamchatka river valley these sites had similar stratigraphy due to volcanic ash fall. Ushki Cultural Layers II-IV were indexed as pertaining to the Tarya Neolithic. Dikov briefly describes each site, discussing the excavation, stratigraphy, and the artifacts found. The stratigraphy is emphasized as it was used to support dates and to help classify the sites as to culture.
