Abstract
This article is an overview of the major cultures comprising the Andean Regional Development Period by the Director of the Museo Nacional de Antropología y Arqueología, in Lima, Peru. Lumbreras discusses settlement patterns, subsistence, social organization, arts and crafts, and burial practices of the Gallinazo, Moche, Recuay, Lima, Nazca, Huarpa, Tiahuanac, and some lesser known cultures. The article includes numerous photographs of pottery, stone work, and sites from each period and tradition.
