Abstract
This work, in Spanish, focuses on the cultural development within the Tiwanaku period in Bolivia from about 250 B.C. - 650 A.D., covering roughly Tiwanaku I-IV in the archaeological chronology. Ponce Sangines discusses several of the archaeological sites representative of each of the time periods (i.e., Tiwanaku I-IV) and describes the evolutionary changes in artifacts and structural architecture from one phase to the next. A number of photographic plates, illustrations, and maps compliment the textual description. Although the primary focus in this document is on Bolivia, there is also some limited information on the Tiwanaku period in Peru and Chile as well.
