Abstract
Moseley discusses the preceramic traditions of Ecuador, Peru and Chile (mostly Peru), and the differences between their coastal and highland Andean traditions. Topics include diet, agriculture, the expansion of fishing accompanied by population growth, settlement size, monumental architecture, mortuary practices, the arts, design motifs on textiles and their persistence in later traditions, unbaked clay figurines, and the Aspero and Paraiso subtraditions.
