Abstract
Lumbreras provides an overview of the various cultures and ceramic styles found during the Formative Period (mainly discussing Peru). Included in his discussions of the various cultures are descriptions of ceramics, architecture (dwellings and temples), settlement patterns, other arts and crafts (especially sculptures), burial practices, and diet (including what types of plants were cultivated). Lumbreras discusses the Formative throughout Bolivia and Peru, but only the data pertaining to the Andean Highlands (verses coastal Peru) were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes.
