Abstract
Rowe discusses the persistence of Chavín-like designs in later periods. In Moche art he believes there was more a more direct influence ('the direct imitation by later craftsmen of objects decorated in the Chavín style…' page 101), which he calls archaism. In Huari and Tiahuanaco art the connection is not so obvious. '…Chavín influence can be traced…[to] the transmission of certain Chavín conventions to later styles as persistent element of changing artistic traditions.' (page 101).
