Abstract
Schreiber excavated parts of the southwestern section of Jincamocco. She has also mapped a portion of the site and conducted a regional site survy of the Carhuarazo Valley. In this paper she describes some of the architectural details of the site and summarizes her excavation findings. Schreiber determined that Jincamocco was built along a major road and ontop of a small local village that was moved to a new location. After the Jincamocco's construction it was enlarged. The regional survey indicated Huari occupation of the valley changed the settlement pattern for the locals and probably indicates an increased reliance on maize agriculture. (This is also indicated by terrace construction.) The site does not seem to be part of the Huari heartland as there is no Huari architecture in the adjacent valleys.
