huari administrative structure : prehistoric monumental architecture and state governmentWashington, D.C.Published In 1991 • Pages: 247-258

By: Knobloch, Patricia J..

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is a report on Huari ceramic chronology. Knobloch reviews the literature on ceramic chronology and terminology from eight area sites, and outlines her own sequence based on the stratigraphy of the Huari and Conchopata sites. She revises Menzel's original sequence, assigning Middle Horizon Epoch 1A to the Early Intermediate Period and divides Epoch 1B into early, middle, and late phases. She found evidence of the free interaction between Huamachuco and Huari in the Epoch 1B period. There remains the problem of synchronizing the Huari and Cajamarca sequences.
