By: Goldstein, Paul S..

Abstract
Goldstein writes of his research in the Moquegua Valley. Tiwanaku appears to have had a colony there starting in the Omo phase and lasting through the Tumilaca Phase (Tiwanaku Epoca IV and V). In this article Goldstein mainly describes the settlements and ceramics found during the survey, but also briefly discusses cemeteries, agriculture and irrigation techniques such as canals, houses, a temple, and trade between the Monquegua Valley and Tiwanaku in Bolivia.
