Abstract
In this chapter, Kolata describes the on-going, long-term, multidisciplinary research project that is called the Proyecto Wila Jawira. Kolata introduces the project and describes some of the previous research in the area. Backgound information on the project is presented; such as how it got started and the initial surveys and excavations and their findings. Kolata presents the research objectives for the project; the main objective being to examine the Tiwanaku state's organization of its agricultural hinterland. The project and its findings are fully described in sources nos. 10-20.
