Abstract
The author, who excavated at the Sheriden Pit at Indian Trail Caverns in Wyandot County, Ohio, describes species that could have been affected by the first humans to enter the area. The majority of dates for the faunal remains fall between 13,000 and 9500 BP. The earliest is for Cervalces scotti (elk-moose) at 16700 ± 250 BP. The only date later than 8420 ± 400 BP for Mammut americanum (American mastodon) is one of 4290 ± 150 BP for Platygonus compressus (flat-headed peccary).
