Abstract
The author intensively surveyed more than 2400 hectares of a 200 square kilometer region around southern Rice Lake, Ontario, finding eight Early Paleo-Indian sites. Two larger sites were partially excavated. Based on the faunal remains found (caribou), along with data on the lithic assemblages, a discussion is presented regarding lithic raw material use, tool types, settlement patterns, land use, and seasonality.
