Abstract
This document covers the southern half of South America where, despite the lack of early dates, it is assumed humans entered the continent sometime between 13,000-12,000 BP. The author writes about the paleoenvironment and of the evidence for early sites and their dates, organized by geographical zone: west central or Peru; east central or Brazil; central [north-central] Chile and Argentina [also Uruguay]; and Patagonia or southern Chile and Argentina.
