By: Barnett, William K..
Abstract
Barnett examined ceramics from six Early Neolithic sites in and around the Aude Valley in France and Andorra. A compositional analysis of the pottery's mineralogical classification by optical petrography was conducted on 94 vessels and 105 resource samples. The resource samples were chosen to try to represent the resource materials that may have been available in the past. The analysis found the more "highly decorated and burnished cardial vessels were transported more frequently and over great distances."
