Abstract
Heirakonpolis has produced a large collection of faunal remains with excellent preservation. Domesticated animals were found at the settlement sites. Although more goats/sheep bones were found, cattle provided the major source of protein. The people continued to do some hunting. Dogs were not common in the settlements but were found in the cemeteries along with cattle, an equid, and two baboons.
