AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Kroll helped to excavate a kurgan in Russia that contained no human remains. She believes that this represents a cenotaph of the Sargat Culture and she points out the importance of funerary rituals as a way to bring a community together in addition to transfering wealth and power to the living. Kroll also examined records from other Sargat kurgans and found a number of them that also did not contain human remains and that are possible cenotaphs.
