By: Tsukada, Matsuo.

Abstract
Tsukada presents data on the vegetational history of Japan from 20,000 years ago to the present. Only the data that might pertain to the Yayoi period were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. The data are based on pollen counts from pollen core from 40 different locations throughout Japan and two from outside of Japan. The pollen record provides evidence of large scale forest disturbances with the beginnings of agriculture and when agriculture intensified near the end of the Yayoi period.
