Abstract
KondŌ examines burial mounds from the Middle to Late Yayoi period to point out that all the burial characteristics and features of the Kofun period can be found in some form during the Yayoi period. He excavated at Tatesuki Mound and the mound and the excavations are described. He then goes on to describe some of the other Late Yayoi burial mounds. '…[T]he most striking characteristic is regional variability. Distribution of some features of Yayoi burials is quite localized…' (page 345).
