Abstract
Pearson writes an overview of Yayoi culture which he defines as occurring from 2400 B.P. to 1750 B.P. (400 B.C. to 250 A.D.). Pearson states '…the beginning of the Yayoi is [now] viewed as a complex process of migration and local adaptation.' (page 129), and that it was not due solely to massive immigration from Korea. Pearson's summary covers chronology; agriculture; the various technologies such as textiles, glass and stone production, woodworking, ceramics, and metalurgy; settlements and settlement patterns; burial practices; DOTAKU and bronze weapons; social organization; and the historical record.
