AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This summary of a fieldwork season at Rehman Dheri presents only preliminary findings. Features from each locus of the various deposits are presented, and there are descriptions and drawings of examples of the artifacts found. The site has several unusual aspects: its outline indicates city planning; Kot Dijian style ceramics appear throughout the strata; and the mud bricks used in the architecture were made from clay slabs dug from the beds of dry ponds or rivers and shaped for use. Dates are not known for most of the strata, but the platform in Area II was associated with amulets or seals typical of Mature Indus, and Loci 1000-1011 date to the Mature Indus. The following strata pertain to the Early Indus: 1018, 1020-1040, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
