Abstract
The major focus of this work is on the archaeological site of Chirand on the bank of the river Ghaghara, eleven kilometers east of the Saran district headquarters of Chapra, in Bihar, India. Verma describes in detail the various stone and bone tools and artifacts made by the Neolithic people of Chirand, including information on microliths, beads and pendants, terracotta figurines and miscellaneous objects, and pottery. Throughout the text the author makes frequent comparisons between the artifacts and technologies found at Chirand with other Neolithic cultures in India.
