Abstract
Gilead summarizes the Upper Paleolithic of the Levant, describing various traditions (two of which - the Ahmarian and Levantine Aurignacian - co-existed for 16,000 years), lithic technologies and tools, bone tools, settlement patterns, origins of the traditions, and climate. Early research in the Levant is briefly described.
