Abstract
Betts conducted fieldwork at several sites in the Black Desert of eastern Jordan, including: Khallat 'Anaza, Mugharet el-Jawa, Jebel es-Subi, and Abu el-Husein. Sites located where rainfall is relatively high were long-term use sites. Where the rainfall was lower and standing water was less reliable the sites were smaller and short-term or single use sites. The tool typology is also similar between these sites and sites in other desert locations, perhaps indicating an emphasis on hunting and meat processing.
