By: Belfer-Cohen, Anna.
AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Belfer-Cohen describes the art objects from the Natufian layers at Hayonim Cave. These objects include personal ornaments such as beads and pendents, carved decorations found on bone tools, and carved decorations found on ground stone utensils. Some items had been stained with ochre or lime. Ochre may have been used for artistic purposes but it may also have been used for more utilitarian purposes. Most ornaments were found with the burials in the cave. Belfer-Cohen also briefly describes the cave site.
