AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Moore describes the excavation of Abu Hureyra 1 in Trench E: their methods of excavation, its complex stratigraphy, the architectural findings, the three phases, and some of the artifacts from the various pits. He describes how space might have been used within the settlement (the layout of the dwellings, how they might have been built, the bench area, where food preparation took place, etc.) and how the settlement changed over time. Moore shows how the stratigraphy from the various trenches corresponds to the various phases at the site. The dates for Abu Hureyra 1 are described, including 5 grains of domesticated rye. The calibrated date for Abu Hureyra 1 is 12,700-11,100 calibrated B.P.
