Abstract
Merpert summarizes what is known about the archaic phase of the Hassunan subtradition in northern Iraq and presents dates for it. He does this by comparing several sites (Yarim Tepe I, Tell Hassuna, Tell Sotto, Umm Dabaghiyah, Kültepe, etc.). Compared are their stratigraphy, ceramics, stone vessels, architecture, lithic artifacts, economy, trade, and dates.
