Abstract
This study presents the data from the original excavation work done in 1930-1931 at Tepe Hissar (Tappeh Hesar) by Dr. Erich F. Schmidt. Although the sequence at Tepe Hissar covers a range of time from the fifth millennium to the second millennium B.C., only the data relevant to the Iranian Bronze Age period (Hissar III), has been indexed in the analysis of this work. The majority of Schmidt's data on the various artifacts and pottery vessels came from the many graves uncovered at the site, rather than from occupational levels. In general, the work provides an abundance of information on Hissar III architectual remains, pottery types, objects of baked and unbaked clay, figurines, seals, objects of metal, alabaster and stone vessels, bone and horn objects, beads, and a detailed analysis of the skeletal remains found at the site. At the end of the text is a catalogue-index of objects found at Tepe Hissar (pp. 370-459), describing each item in detail.
