Abstract
This is a detailed study by Mallowan of his field work at the two Syrian archaeological sites of Brak and Chagar Bazar during the 1930s. The monograph is divided into three principal parts: part 1 summarizes the archaeological results obtained from the excavations and attempts to take into consideration relevant evidence from other sites in the area; part 2 describes the stratification and the buildings found at these two major sites; and part 3 concludes with a catalogue of the finds.
