The third-millennium pottery

Excavations at Tell Brak2 • Published In 2001 • Pages: 151-194

By: Oates, Joan.

Abstract
Oates describes the third millennium pottery from Tell Brak. Only the data that pertain to the Akkadian period were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. Due to the volume of sherds excavated each season, Oates has limited the discussion in this chapter to to vessels with complete profiles or complete vessels. 'Our purpose has been to provide as well-dated a compendium of pottery as possible, with information on frequency and distribution when it seems significant.' (page 151). There are numerous figures to illustrate the various ceramic types, shapes, and decorations in this chapter and the reader is refered to eHRAF document number 43 for further artifact illustrations.
