AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
During a survey between Armant and Qurna several Predynastic settlements sites were found. Three seasons of excavations were conducted. The authors discuss and analyze the stratigraphy, the geology, and the archaeological finds (mainly lithic, ceramic, and floral). They also devote a chapter to the radiocarbon dates and their meaning. The faunal analysis is presented as a separate chapter and is written in German. The climatic changes that occur during the Predynastic period (and throughout the Holocene) are discussed along with their effects on the settlements. Numerous artifact illustrations are provided.
