AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Hoffman et al. wanted to test a representative range of sites around the Great Wadi at Hierakonpolis. In this document they present the preliminary reports on the test excavations at Localities 29, 11C, 54, 30A, 27, and 6. The reports include the field methods they used and the findings they made at each localities. These localities were habitation zones, trash zones, industrial zones, and cemeteries. Their recording and description of the petroglyphs at Locality 61 is also included. 'Since our fieldwork is just complete and much material remains to be analysed and tabulated, the data presented here are reflections of the present state of our thinking and, in many cases, undigested and unintegrated.' (page 6).
