Abstract
Adams and Porat examine imported pottery and their potmarks from the cemetery at Abydos. The imported pottery was from Israel and Lebanon. A small group '…was sampled for petrographic analysis in the hope that it could: a) confirm that all the pieces were foreign, and b) identify the source of the clay from which the pots were manufactured …' (page 100). Adams and Porat were able to group the potmarks and '…it can be suggested that there is a correleation between source/content and potmark prior to or on import into Egypt, which was constant no matter what the ultimate funerary destination of the jar was to be.' (page 107).
