Settlement and subsistence at the Go-Kart North site: a Late Archaic Titterington occupation in the American Bottom, Illinois

Abstract
Fortier excavated the Go-Kart North site, at the time, the only Titterington phase site with data on settlement, artifacts in occupational contexts, community organization, subsistence activities, and assemblage variation. A large enough area was excavated to show the whole community. Its not known if this site is typical, however, as this is the only one that has been systematically excavated. The site seems to have been rather intensively occupied. Nine individual pit clusters were found that seem to represent nine distinct family activity areas. The community represented here may have been between 50-100 people.
