Abstract
Cresson and Mounier examine broadspear lithic technologies with '[d]ata on empirical, experimental, technological, ethnological, archaeological, and functional lines of evidence…' (page 125). They point out that most researchers fail to look at broadspears as part of a system of biface tools that have to provide a continuum of tool uses. They also explore the possible importance of bifaces as status symbols, in addition to being tools.
