Abstract
Jones et al. describe the two excavations and preliminary analyses at the Block-Sterns site. The 1973 excavations concentrated on mound 1 while the 1994 salvage excavations explored the village midden. The site has artifacts that date from the Paleo-Indian through the Apalachee occupations. Only the data that pertain to the Middle Woodland were indexeded for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects. Mound 1, a mortuary mound, consisted of several construction stages. The artifacts found in the village area suggest domestic and ceremonial activities were carried out at the site.
